Retired laboratory hematologist, Vancouver general hospital, Vancouver, Canada

Education and Training:

  1. MBBS 1974. M. P. Shah Medical College, India 
  2. Postgraduation (MD) 1978. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigadh,  India, MD (Pathology and Hematology). 
  3. Further training at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, University of Chicago and University of Western Ontario.

Areas of Special Interest:

1. Blood disorders.
2. Flow cytometry.
3. Clinical practice guidelines.

Publications, Presentations, Conferences, Lectures:

  1. Approx 75 publications in peer reviewed journals.
  2. Approx 70 paper presentations at international conferences.
  3. Hundreds of invited lectures internationally.
  4. Organized, participated in dozens of CME conferences in Bhaarat, Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Jordan, Saudi Arabia
  5. Currently chief editor of upcoming PGI Textbook of Clinical and Laboratory Hematology.

Awards & Distinctions:

1. Outstanding Service Award for organizing CMEs. Association of Indian Pathologists in North America.

2. Outstanding Service Award for International Educational Activities by ICON, Indian Cooperative Oncology Network,

3. “Bharat Gaurav” (Pride of India). Awarded by the Government of India for exceptional accomplishment by an Indian living abroad. 

4. UBC Faculty of Medicine Excellence in teaching Award.

5. Dr. Cam Coady Medal for Excellence: Physician of the Year. To recognize a physician who has distinguished himself in one of the fields of the medical profession. 

6. Dr. Naglotimath Memorial Oration (Indian College of Pathologists).
